Walk in Faith! – Part 2

“For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him…” – Genesis 18:19 (NKJV)

As we continue our ‘Walk of Faith!’ journey, Genesis 18:19 beautifully ends with emphasising God’s purpose to uphold His promises, saying: “that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him”. There is a purpose connected to our faithfulness. There is a divine blessing attached to our obedience. It is a great comfort to any man knowing that as you follow God’s ways, instilling values in your family, the floodgates of heaven pour out blessings, not only for the present family but for generations to come.

As the leader of any household, it is critical to understand that faith is planting a generational seed on fertile ground. The lives we live influence our children in the present day and long after we are gone. But if we genuinely strive to attain the blessings God promised Abraham, there must be a commitment to righteous living.  Our daily actions need to display mercy, love, forgiveness, and all the characteristics displayed by Jesus during His ministry on earth.

I implore us, men in particular, to endeavour to take a journey of faith amidst life’s struggles, challenges, and failures. Be reminded that God looks at the heart. As you shape your family’s spiritual legacy, you need to command your children and households with principles that align with God’s Word.

Prayer

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for blessing our obedience. Forgive our sins and help us, oh Lord, to command our households with godly principles. May our efforts be shaped into a spiritual legacy. We pray, oh Lord, that as we invest in our families, You will draw us closer to Your heart as Your justice reigns in our lives, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
